This week in our series #womenwhoinspireus we met Dr. Mariam Ketait, Founder, EBB Flow Dubai and asked her a few questions.
1. TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY. HOW DID YOU GET INTRODUCED TO KUNDALINI YOGA?
I practised different types of yoga over the years I was introduced to Kundalini yoga through an addiction redirection workshop lead by Haely a few years ago. I then continued learning about the teachings and attending classes, I enjoyed the way I felt after a class and felt that it complimented the work I did with Theta healing and Family constellations.

2. WHAT HELPS YOU RELAX AND UNWIND AFTER A LONG DAY OF WORK?
Go for a walk, connect with nature and breathe.

3. KUNDALINI YOGA REQUIRES A GREAT FORM OF DISCIPLINE. TELL US THE SECRET TO MASTERING THE REGIMEN.
Kundalini yoga teachers training emphasised the importance of sadhana, the morning practice. It is a continuous journey of self development and learning virtues such as self motivation and restraint in order to keep up. Yogi Bhajan said “keep up so that you shall be kept up”.

4. OFF THE MISSION, CORE VALUES AND VISION, WHICH ASPECT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU?
They all work together, your vision creates the path, your values set the tone, and your mission drives you forward.

5. IF YOU COULD START OVER, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL YOURSELF?
Enjoy every step of the way, have fun while you’re at it, and trust yourself.

6. WITH STRESS IN OUR LIVES INCREASING DAY TO DAY, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHARE WITH PEOPLE TO HELP THEM LEAD A CALMER LIFE?
Create a space for you to be with yourself, dedicate the time and create a ritual around your well being. Remember that you are the leader of your well being.

7. WHAT IS THE SOURCE OF KUNDALINI YOGA, AND KUNDALINI YOGA KRIYAS? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT IN ITS PHILOSOPHY AND GOALS WHEN COMPARED WITH OTHER FORMS OF YOGA?
Kundalini yoga was taught by Yogi Bhajan. It is a form of Raj yoga and combines Kriyas and sound (laya yoga) and meditation. It is this combination that creates a technology that helps strengthen the nervous system and facilitate awareness. Yogi Bhajan refers to Kundalini yoga as the yoga of awareness.

8. HOW DOES KUNDALINI YOGA HELP WITH ENLIGHTENMENT?
Kundalini yoga helps with embodiment, the more you release your internal blocks and prepare your body to receive your spiritual growth and create a life of truth the more enlightened your experience.

9. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE QUOTE?
It is from the first Sutra in Kundalini yoga- “Recognize that the other person is you” by Yogi Bhajan.

10. WHY DO YOU THINK SOME MAY FEEL INTIMIDATED BY YOGA? HOW CAN THEY OVERCOME THIS PHASE?
I think change always intimidates people, we are lucky here in the UAE because change is part of our DNA so we enjoy exploring different tools and experiences. Overcoming the fear of change is a personal journey but introducing a new tool to learn about the self every week is a good way to start.

Starting her career as a family doctor and a health advisor, Dr. Mariam felt that there was a need to look at the patient holistically. She works with many modalities such as pranic healing, spiritual response therapy and access consciousness. She is a Theta healing teacher and a Kundalini Yoga teacher in training and helps people reconnect with the ‘rhythms of life’.
